Volstad Maritime AS is a privately owned Norwegian Company, which both owns and operates vessels in the following sectors: Seismic Exploration, Diving, Offshore IRM and Construction.
All vessels are operated and managed by its subsidiary, Volstad Management AS. The Company’s offices are located on the Western Coast of Norway, in the maritime hub of Aalesund.
Volstad built its first fishing vessel in 1952, and was present in Norwegian and international Fisheries until 2007.
Volstad entered into Seismic Exploration with Geco Tau which was built together with Geco AS. The vessel worked for Western Geco until March 2014. The vessel changed name to Tau in April 2014 and was converted to support AUV operations in Brazil.
Volstad took delivery of Geco Bluefin a DP-II Q-Seabed Seismic Exploration vessel.
Volstad entered the subsea market with the dynamically positioned multi-role construction vessel Bibby Sapphire. The vessel was converted into a DSV after short time in service. Bibby Sapphire was on long term time charter to Bibby Offshore Ltd. until April 2010 when she was sold to Bibby Offshore Ltd.
Multi Role Diving Support vessel Boka Topaz was delivered from Fosen Shipyard to Volstad. Boka Topaz is 107 x 22 meter long and can accommodate a crew of 124 crew members. She is equipped with two diving bells, which enables her to operate with 18 divers at up to 300meters depth.
Volantis and Oceanic Endeavour were delivered from Fosen Shipyard to Volstad. Volantis, a 107 x 22 metre DP II multi-role subsea construction vessel, designed for operation in severe weather conditions. The vessel demonstrates high station keeping capability whilst remaining environmentally efficient. Volantis is equipped with a 150t heave compensated crane and mobilised with a work class ROV, the 2,100kW UT-1 ‘Jet Trencher’ and is designed for a 2,000te rated carousel to facilitate the installation and/or simultaneous burial of flexible products.
Oceanic Endeavour a seismic reaserch vessel, equipped to tow up to 16 streamers, and 8 gunstrings. She can take a crew of 70 persons. This is a vessel with Comfort class, and very high standard on all cabins and recreation rooms.
Deep Cygnus, a 122 x 22 metre DP II multi-role subsea support vessel, was delivered from Fosen Shipyard to Volstad. Deep Cygnus is equipped with a 150t heave compensated offshore crane and mobilized with Ampelmann E1000 Walk to Work system, safely transferring people as well as cargo up to 1000 kg in rough sea conditions.
Geo Caspian is a 108 x 24/28 metre seismic reaserch vessel, was delivered from Fosen Shipyard to Volstad. "Geo Caspian" is designed to tow up to 16 streamers, and 8 gun strings. The vessel can accomodate a crew of 70 persons in single high standard cabins.
Grand Canyon, a 128 x 25 metre DP III multi role subsea construction vessel, was delivered from Fosen Shipyard to Volstad. "Grand Canyon" is equipped with a 250t heave compensated offshore crane and capabilities for cable laying from carosel, trenching, rov operations and various IMR work.
Grand Canyon II, a 128 x 25 metre DP III multi role subsea construction vessel, was delivered from Kleven Myklebust Shipyard to Volstad. The vessel is a sister vessel to Grand Canyon and is equipped with a 250t heave compensated offshore crane and capabilities for cable laying from carosel, trenching, rov operations and various IMR work.
Grand Canyon III delivered from Kleven Myklebust Yard. The vessel is sistervessel of the Grand Canyon and Grand Canyon II.
Through a private placement, the Sævik family came in as shareholders in Volstad Maritime as co-owners with the Volstad family.
Geco Bluefin was sold for recycling in January 2022 to a yard approved according to the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships.
The Convention is aimed at ensuring that ships, when being recycled after reaching the end of their operational lives, do not pose any unnecessary risks to human health, safety and to the environment.
